Macon County and Dooly County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Macon County Bulldogs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Dooly County Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Macon County will be strutting in after a victory while Dooly County will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, Macon County gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Webster County on the road to the tune of 56-9. Given Macon County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Webster County is ranked 540th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Destiny Smith and Aniah Lake were among the main playmakers for Macon County as the former scored 14 points and the latter scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lake has scored all season. Aliyah Lake was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Dooly County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by Treutlen 46-12. Dooly County has struggled against Treutlen recently, as their match on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Macon County has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Dooly County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Macon County against Dooly County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-21 win. With Macon County ahead 40-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
