In what's become a running theme this season, the Baldwin Braves gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They breezed by West Laurens on the road to the tune of 80-29. Baldwin's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Baldwin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Ruff led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six steals and five assists. Ruff is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janaye Walker, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tariah Tobler, who scored seven points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Carswell, who scored six points.
The victory (which was Baldwin's eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for West Laurens, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baldwin will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Perry at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Perry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Baldwin is ranked 14th). As for West Laurens, they will head out on the road to take on Howard at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Howard has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
