The Harrison Raiders suffered their biggest loss since January 3rd on Friday. They were beaten by Benton Central 59-31. Harrison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.
When it comes to explaining why Harrison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Riley Whitlock. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 71% of Harrison's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Dunk, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Harrison struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Harrison has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Benton Central, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.
Harrison will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Marion at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Marion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 388th, while Harrison is ranked 139th). As for Benton Central, they will face off against North Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Montgomery has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
