Baseball Recap: North Posey Has No Trouble Against Edgewood

North Posey was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Edgewood on Saturday. The Vikings blew past the Mustangs 14-7. Considering the Vikings have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Dylan Murphy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Mansfield, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Grant Cullman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

North Posey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

North Posey is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Edgewood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Posey will venture away from home to square off against Castle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Edgewood, they will take on Owen Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
