After flying high against the Haywood Christian Academy Red Wolves two weeks ago, The Master's Academy Lions came back down to earth. The Master's Academy took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Lure Classical Academy on Tuesday. If The Master's Academy hoped to take revenge for the 73-51 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Holiday, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Davis, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Da'Zirus Watkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake Lure Classical Academy, scoring 16 points along with three steals. Watkins is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Andre Staley, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
The Master's Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Master's Academy will square off against Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy is ranked 598th, while The Master's Academy is ranked 585th). As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Christian Family Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Christian Family Academy will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
