The Whitinsville Christian Crusaders will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Sutton Sammies at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Whitinsville Christian can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past Douglas with a 44-39 victory. The victory was all the more spectacular given Whitinsville Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Douglas is ranked 78th).
Whitinsville Christian found their leader in underclassman Gabe Deters, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deters has scored all season. Caleb Deters was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Sutton was able to grind out a solid win over Blackstone-Millville on Tuesday, taking the game 53-44.
Sutton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cam Benedict, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Marchand, who scored 13 points.
The win got Whitinsville Christian back to even at 5-5. As for Sutton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Whitinsville Christian lost to Sutton at home by a decisive 46-29 margin in their previous meeting on January 9th.
