Basketball Recap: Futures' Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

If Futures was riding high fresh off their 89-57 takedown of Forest Lake Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Futures Knights took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sacramento Waldorf Waves on Friday. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Futures lost, don't look at Chris Collins. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards. Collins has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Lewis, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Futures smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 16 consecutive matches.

Sacramento Waldorf's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Liam Aldwinckle, who went 8 for 14 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. Liam Mason Melberg was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 20 points and seven boards.
