Hazel Park is 2-8 against the Panthers since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hazel Park Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Center Line Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Hazel Park has not done well against the Stallions recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hazel Park enjoyed a cozy 61-43 victory over the Stallions. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hazel Park.
Meanwhile, Center Line beat the Trojans 50-40 on Tuesday. Given Center Line's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Trojans are ranked 704th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Center Line relied on the efforts of Kameren Broughton, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Terez Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Holmes hasn't dropped below 17 points for five straight games.
Hazel Park's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Center Line, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Hazel Park lost to the Panthers at home by a decisive 66-50 margin in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Center Line's Jordan Zeigler, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Now that Hazel Park knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
