Basketball Game Preview: East Coweta Indians vs. Callaway Cavaliers

East Coweta has gone 7-0 against Callaway recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The East Coweta Indians will head out to challenge the Callaway Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in East Coweta's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

East Coweta is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Chapel Hill just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 18-11 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, East Coweta had strong showings from Qwes Williams, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Harper Rife, who went 6 for 15 en route to 19 points. Williams is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played. Cam Green was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Callaway played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Morgan County, falling 59-39. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 150th).

East Coweta's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-6. As for Callaway, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

East Coweta strolled past Callaway in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 78-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Coweta since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
