Calhoun Academy won the last time they faced Hammond and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers' way against the Hammond Skyhawks as the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers made off with a 13-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavaliers.
Skyler Ulmer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Ulmer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Anslea Aaron was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Coker Carson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Calhoun Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond only posted an OBP of .300.
Calhoun Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Looking ahead, Calhoun Academy will look to defend their home field on March 7th against Colleton Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for Hammond, they will venture away from home to take on Wilson Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
