Briarwood Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers as they made off with an 11-1 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Buccaneers have posted against the Cavaliers since March 16, 2023.

Blake Tench made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Banks DeMore was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Briarwood Academy is 6-2 when DeMore posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carson Callaway, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Briarwood Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.

The victory got Briarwood Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Augusta Prep Day, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Briarwood Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Glascock County at 5:30 p.m. on the 14th. After both having extra time off, Augusta Prep Day and Edmund Burke Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
