The Rockmart Yellowjackets had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 43-7 victory over Gordon Central. Given Rockmart's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Gordon Central is ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rockmart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristan Anderson led the charge by picking up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Anderson was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 62 yards. Brent Washington was in the mix too, providing Rockmart with two touchdowns.
Rockmart's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Gordon Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Rockmart will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fannin County at 7:00 p.m. Fannin County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Gordon Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Model at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
