The Juniata Indians will square off against the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy WolfPack at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Juniata has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Juniata is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They lost 11-1 to Newport. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Juniata saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daylyn Kennedy, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. John Peck also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past Greenwood 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the WolfPack.
Braeden Miller and Caleb Foytack made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Miller kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Foytack struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Miller also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise. At bat, Miller scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances, while Foytack scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs Foytack has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on CJ Grove, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Max Jennings, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Juniata, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Juniata has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Juniata took their victory against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the WolfPack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
