Softball Recap: Thatcher Has No Trouble Against Blue Ridge

Thatcher barely beat Blue Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Thatcher Eagles' way against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets on Thursday as the Thatcher Eagles made off with a 20-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Shaylee Hughes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kacee McCluskey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Thatcher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Blue Ridge and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thatcher will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Blue Ridge, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Monument Valley at 1:00 p.m.
