Softball Recap: Macomb Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Macomb had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Monmouth United Red Storm get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Saturday. The Bombers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.

Kendyl Danner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Danner was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Nika Daytner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Olivia Whitney was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Macomb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monmouth United only posted a batting average of .143.

Monmouth United is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Macomb will square off against Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monmouth United, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monmouth-Roseville at 4:30 p.m. on April 2.
