Leon is 2-8 against Centerville since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Leon Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Centerville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Leon has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Centerville will arrive with five straight wins.
Leon suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 70-46 loss at the hands of Grapeland. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Leon has suffered against Grapeland since January 5, 2021.
Meanwhile, Centerville was able to grind out a solid win over Lovelady on Friday, taking the game 57-48.
Centerville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wade Neyland led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Neyland has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 18 times he's played. Andrew Newman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Leon's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-17. As for Centerville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Leon was taken down by Centerville 69-21 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Leon, PAXTON HANCOCK (who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
