Cole is 0-5 against Jourdanton since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Cole has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Marion hit Cole with a seven-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-3.
Cole saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Zedhikeia, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Jourdanton came out on top against Great Hearts Northern Oaks on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run seventh inning. The Indians blew past the Griffins 14-3. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Troy Fulmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Jourdanton got a massive performance out of Nico Chapa, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Chapa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braden Griego, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Jourdanton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Jourdanton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cole, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cole has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jourdanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cole couldn't quite get it done against Jourdanton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
