The Caddo Magnet Mustangs will challenge the Plain Dealing Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Caddo Magnet has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Plain Dealing will arrive with four straight wins.
Caddo Magnet couldn't beat Zwolle on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Mustangs lost 19-5 to the Hawks.
Landry McLamb and Jada Wolfgang did some serious damage despite the final result: McLamb went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while Wolfgang went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Wolfgang has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Plain Dealing made easy work of Green Oaks on Tuesday and carried off a 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
McKenna Fisk made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other pitching news, Alainah Brooks looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kylie Welch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last six contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Ravin West, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Plain Dealing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.
Plain Dealing's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Caddo Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Caddo Magnet got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Plain Dealing by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
