The East St. Louis Flyers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vashon Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, East St. Louis was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-49 to Springfield Southeast.
Meanwhile, Vashon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Sunday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Hickman on the road and fell 69-38. While losing is never fun, Vashon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Hickman is ranked 14th).
East St. Louis bumped their record down to 8-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Vashon, they have fallen quite a ways from their 29-5 record last season and are now at 5-9.
