After flying high against the Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors on Monday, the First Baptist Christian Academy Crusaders came back down to earth. First Baptist Christian Academy fell 73-62 to Warner Christian Academy on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Solomon Williams, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden McCoy Smith, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, First Baptist Christian Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warner Christian Academy only pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Warner Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaden South , who scored 28 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which South has scored at least 25% of Warner Christian Academy's points. Kayleb Goolsby was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
First Baptist Christian Academy's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2. As for Warner Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Baptist Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warner Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Taylor at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hopefully Taylor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
