The Christ the King Crusaders will be playing at home against the Mountain Island Charter Raptor at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Christ the King came up short against Pine Lake Prep and fell 56-47. While losing is never fun, Christ the King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Pine Lake Prep is ranked 123rd).
Christ the King's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Parker Ryan, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Marco Tampoya who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Ryan hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games.
Meanwhile, Mountain Island Charter's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Community School of Davidson, falling 85-58. Mountain Island Charter has not had much luck with Community School of Davidson recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Christ the King has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Mountain Island Charter, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6.
Christ the King was able to grind out a solid win over Mountain Island Charter in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 71-58. Does Christ the King have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain Island Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
