The Booneville Blue Devils put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Canton as Booneville made off with a 66-45 win. The result was nothing new for Booneville, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Despite the loss, Canton saw an underclassman step up: Shamira Morton almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 blocks. Morton scored a full 26.7% of Canton's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Na'Miya Davis, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals.
Booneville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Booneville will play host again and welcome Columbus, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Canton, they will head out on the road to face off against Velma Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
