The Excel Christian Warriors lost against the Smith Valley Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Excel Christian received a tough blow as they fell 58-41 to Smith Valley. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Excel Christian in their matchups with Smith Valley: they've now lost four in a row.
Excel Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Mark Doerfler and Keegan Davis. Doerfler scored 20 points, while Davis scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Excel Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Smith Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel Christian will take on Whittell at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Excel Christian is facing Whittell at the right time seeing as Whittell is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. Smith Valley is on the road again on Friday and plays Pyramid Lake at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Smith Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Pyramid Lake likes a good challenge.
