Softball Recap: Fairhope Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fairhope walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Robertsdale Golden Bears a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Addison Russell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Russell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Briley Bolden, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Reese Byrd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Fairhope has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Robertsdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-17.

Fairhope wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-0 loss against Daphne on the 28th. Robertsdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
