ELLIE ESPIRITU made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. ESPIRITU was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Chavez got a massive performance out of Emma Robles, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, four runs, and four RBI. Isabella Rodriguez was another key contributor, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Taft has not done well against Monache recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Taft skirted past Monache 4-3. The win was just what Taft needed coming off of a 7-1 defeat in their prior contest.
The victory got Chavez back to even at 8-8-2. As for Taft, their record now sits at 15-2-1.
