Thomas Nelson extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They lost 14-4 to the Bardstown Tigers. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Payton Thompson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Mason Dobson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Bardstown, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Bardstown's side, Preston Ferriell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Ferriell was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other pitching news, Michael Sketo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Bardstown got a massive performance out of Xavier Shariden, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Metcalfe, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
While Thomas Nelson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
