The New Brighton Lions lost against the Ellwood City Wolverine back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. New Brighton had to suffer through a rough 75-33 loss at the hands of Ellwood City. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Brighton has scored all season.
It was another big night for Joseph Roth, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds for Ellwood City. Roth set a new season high mark in blocks with five. Another player making a difference was Aaron Lake, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
New Brighton bumped their record down to 2-3 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ellwood City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
New Brighton will be home for the holidays to greet Beaver Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ellwood City, they will head out on the road to face off against Neshannock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neshannock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ellwood City in Pennsylvania (Neshannock is ranked 104th, while Ellwood City is ranked 442nd).
