The Henry Ford Academy Navigators kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a rough 49-4 loss at the hands of Ypsilanti. Henry Ford Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-3.
Charity Hurt was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylese Hood, who scored 4 points along with 10 steals and 6 rebounds.
Henry Ford Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Ypsilanti, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henry Ford Academy will take on Old Redford Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ypsilanti, they will head out on the road to face off against Academy for Business & Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
