Mica Mountain and Sahuarita are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Thunderbolts will host the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mica Mountain will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Mica Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Crismon, taking the game 9-5.

Shaylee Fuell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Caeli Shellenbarger was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Mica Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Sahuarita made easy work of Mohave on Saturday and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won 22 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayd Villa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Callie Fox and Emily Donia did most of the damage at the plate: Fox went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double, while Donia went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Sahuarita pushed their record up to 24-5 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 20-11.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mica Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Sahuarita struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mica Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Sahuarita in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Thunderbolts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
