The Umatilla Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Altamonte Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Altamonte Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Umatilla, who comes in off a win.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 18 more assists than your opponent, a fact Umatilla proved on Tuesday. They really took it to Seven Rivers Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-40 win at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-13.
Umatilla's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Herly Brutus, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists, and Artis James, who scored 16 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Jalen Pressley, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Altamonte Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to Apopka on Tuesday.
Ashton Billings put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Goss Jr., who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Umatilla and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Altamonte Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Umatilla against Altamonte Christian in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 81-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Umatilla since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
