The Lake City Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Camden 85-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake City in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hannah Riles, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jayda Burgess, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Camden's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joyce Edwards, who scored 27 points along with 15 steals and 13 rebounds. Edwards also posted eight+ assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylin Mungo, who scored 28 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Lake City dropped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Camden, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake City has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Gators at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Camden will take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Darlington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Bulldogs are ranked second).
