Baseball Game Preview: Skyline Eagles vs. West Panthers

For the second straight game, Skyline will face off against West. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Skyline has four straight wins, West has 38 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Skyline is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let West get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Mason PapaDakis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Skyline is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise. PapaDakis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Skyline got a massive performance out of Cole Muse, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Muse a new career-high. George Zervos was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Skyline hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Skyline back to even at 10-10. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-20.

West's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Skyline has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Skyline keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
