The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Rising Sun with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. Given Jac-Cen-Del's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Rising Sun is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jac-Cen-Del got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julia Meyer out in front who scored 15 points along with two steals. Sophia Sullivan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Jac-Cen-Del is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Rising Sun, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jac-Cen-Del will take on South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Ripley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. As for Rising Sun, they will head out on the road to take on Southwestern at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
