Northern Bedford County hasn't had much luck against Meyersdale recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will square off against the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Northern Bedford County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Northern Bedford County duked it out with North Star on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Cougars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Mylee Mitchell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Ava Helsel and Myha Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Helsel went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Dixon went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Meyersdale owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Forbes Road as they made off with a 9-0 win. Considering the Red Raiders have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Northern Bedford County, Meyersdale also got a great game from a two-way player: Madison Berkley. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Berkley has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Deal, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graci Reese, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Meyersdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Northern Bedford County's record now sits at 11-8. As for Meyersdale, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6.
Northern Bedford County suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Meyersdale in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
