Battle Mountain has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the North Tahoe Lakers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Battle Mountain: 29.8, North Tahoe: 19.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
Battle Mountain suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 50-25 loss at the hands of Yerington. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Battle Mountain in their matchups with Yerington: they've now lost four in a row.
Battle Mountain's loss came about despite a quality game from Jenna Chopp, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noel Hill, who scored three points along with three steals.
Battle Mountain struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Yerington racked up nine assists.
Meanwhile, North Tahoe came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Sierra Lutheran with a sharp 42-20 victory. North Tahoe has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Battle Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for North Tahoe, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
Battle Mountain was dealt a bruising 51-11 loss at the hands of North Tahoe when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Battle Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
