Coachella Valley is 8-1 against Cathedral City since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs will head out on the road to face off against the Cathedral City Lions at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Coachella Valley's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Coachella Valley at home against Twentynine Palms as the squad secured a 55-20 win. The result was nothing new for Coachella Valley, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Aaron Ramirez got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 198 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Miguel Rodriguez did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cathedral City strolled past Banning with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 26-12. The victory was just what Cathedral City needed coming off of a 26-6 loss in their prior matchup.
The team won by holding Banning to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cathedral City's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jonah Grubbs and his three sacks.
Their wins bumped Coachella Valley to 6-1 and Cathedral City to 5-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' game: Coachella Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Cathedral City, though, as they've been averaging only 0 per game. How will Cathedral City fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Coachella Valley against Cathedral City when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 64-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coachella Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
