Mountain View is 7-0 against Heritage since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mountain View Thunder will look to defend their home field against the Heritage Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain View has six straight wins, Heritage has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mountain View ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 victory over Kelso. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Mountain View haved a senior duo take command as Porter Drake rushed for 226 yards while picking up 10.3 yards per carry and Cash Cook threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Drake is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was JJ Thompson, who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Heritage fell victim to Evergreen's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of the Plainsmen. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Evergreen is ranked 86th).
Mountain View's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.3 points per game. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Mountain View against Heritage when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 48-6 victory. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
