NCISAA Freelance recap Oct. 9, 2012
Victory Christian Center moved up to 186 from 219 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in NCISAA Freelance. The Kings climbed the ranks as a result of a 50-7 win over Metrolina Christian Academy.
Victory Christian Center took down the Warriors 50-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Davidson Day's dynamic duo of Will Grier and Aaron Seward proved tough for Charlotte Country Day to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Grier threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns and Seward had 171 yards receiving. Evan Gates helped Davidson Day's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 45 yards.
Gerrio Rahming provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Rabun Gap-Nacoochee fell to Asheville School. He completed one pass for 25 yards and also ran for 355 yards. Rahming's favorite target this week was Lance Edwards, who caught eight passes for 84 yards.
Davidson Day's Grier and Seward have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Grier has thrown for 2670 yards this season, while Seward, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 36 catches for 842 yards. The Eagles' Rahming leads the league in rushing yards with 1259.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Chad Grier's team takes on Metrolina Christian Academy. As it stands, Davidson Day is in first, while the Warriors are in third.
