The Surprise Valley Hornets lost against the Happy Camp Indians back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Surprise Valley fell 43-34 to Happy Camp. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Surprise Valley in their matchups with Happy Camp: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Casey Grove, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Kevin Castillo was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Happy Camp found their leader in underclassman Jean Wright, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Wright is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jason Day, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Surprise Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Happy Camp, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Surprise Valley on the road again on Saturday and play against Hayfork at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hayfork will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Happy Camp, they will be playing at home against Butte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Butte Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
