The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils will challenge the Wayne Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mynderse Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
Mynderse Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Newark as they made off with a 19-0 win. Fans of the Blue Devils have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Maddison Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danielle McDermott, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Haley Young was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Mynderse Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Wayne made sure to put some runs up on the board against Midlakes on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Screaming Eagles. That looming 14-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
Like Mynderse Academy, Wayne also got a great game from a two-way player: Reese Sinclair. On the mound, Sinclair struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Lauren VanAllen tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Sinclair went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI, while VanAllen went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Wayne let Sophie Armstrong and Savannah Celso run wild. Armstrong got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Celso got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was Armstrong's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Metcalfe, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mynderse Academy pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mynderse Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mynderse Academy beat Wayne 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
