The Orleans Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-47 win over New Washington. Given Orleans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while New Washington is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orleans' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Callie Alston, who scored 15 points. Mylie Knight was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Orleans pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for New Washington, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orleans will finish 2023 at home by hosting Rock Creek Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Creek Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. New Washington will finish 2023 at home by hosting Paoli at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Paoli focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday.
