Softball Recap: Boyd County Has No Trouble Against Blazer

Boyd County came out on top against Blazer on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Lions blew past the Tomcats 8-2. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Brooke Jacobs made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Jacobs was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lacyn Black, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Henderson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Boyd County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Boyd County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Blazer, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Boyd County will venture away from home to challenge Wheelersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Blazer, they will head out to square off against Symmes Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tomcats will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
