Basketball Recap: Dysart Skates Past Coronado with Ease

Dysart won the last time they faced Coronado and things went their way on Monday too. The Dysart Demons blew past the Coronado Dons, posting a 67-25 victory. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Dysart got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yen Doan out in front who went 6-for-12 en route to 17 points and three steals. What's more, Doan also posted a 50% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brianna Brown, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 steals.

When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, don't look at Kailyn Holsey. Despite the final result, she posted two points in addition to ten boards, four blocks, and three steals. Holsey has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Jade Chavez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Dysart has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Coronado, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Dysart wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-32 victory against Cortez on the 11th. As for Coronado, they have also already played their next contest, a 30-28 win against Desert Sunrise on the 11th.
