North Stanly put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons with points to spare, taking the game 23-6. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Gryphons are ranked 334th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zay Dockery was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 113 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries, and also caught one touchdown. North Stanly also got help from Racere Bruton, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: North Stanly was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

North Stanly's defense stepped up as well, laying out Max Sutton five times. Leading the way was Jaden Little with two sacks. North Stanly got some further help from Maddox(Tater) Lowder: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles.

North Stanly's record is now 5-0. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Stanly will face off against Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, they will be playing at home against Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
