On Friday, The Hunt Warriors got themselves on the board against the West Johnston Wildcats, but the West Johnston Wildcats never followed suit. They breezed by the Wildcats on the road to the tune of 35-0. The result was nothing new for Hunt, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
The critical scores for Hunt came from Tylee Jones, Jaquan Harper, and Khalyb Robinson.
The team won by holding West Johnston to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Hunt's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Hunt's victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Smithfield-Selma and 2-6 East Wake (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.9% over those games). As for West Johnston, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunt will challenge Fike at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fike is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for West Johnston, they will head out on the road to face off against South Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
