On Tuesday, the ThunderRidge Grizzlies faced the Chaparral Wolverines in a battle between two of the state's top teams. ThunderRidge lost to Chaparral at home by a decisive 75-59 margin. ThunderRidge has struggled against Chaparral recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tommy Wight, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Charlie Spann was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Chaparral was led to victory by Christian Williams and Gavin Carter. Williams scored 25 points along with five rebounds, while Carter scored 30 points along with five assists and two steals. Carter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Jenkins, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
ThunderRidge's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Chaparral, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
ThunderRidge will look to defend their home court on Friday against Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. Regis Jesuit knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully ThunderRidge likes a good challenge. Chaparral's road trip will continue as they head out to face Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th.
