Geneseo is 1-9 against Avon since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will look to defend their home field against the Braves at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Geneseo 1.1, Avon 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Geneseo's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Lima Christian. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.
Abigail Radesi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Radesi was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run. That run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Paige Rossborough was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ganelli Rodriguez Tillett, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one double.
Geneseo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Avon put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Le Roy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1.
Jessie Crye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Avon secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Abby Schutz, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Geneseo pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Geneseo might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Avon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
