Baseball Game Preview: Youngsville Eagles vs. Eisenhower Knights

The Youngsville Eagles will square off against the Eisenhower Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Youngsville's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Eisenhower has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Monday, Youngsville earned an 11-7 win over Seneca. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

David Manning made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Youngsville is undefeated when Manning posts ten or more strikeouts, but 2-4 otherwise. Manning was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Talon Mesel, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Joshua Pikna was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Youngsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Union City hit Eisenhower with a 11-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights came up short against the Bears, falling 17-2.

Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Youngsville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything went Youngsville's way against Eisenhower in their previous matchup on April 9th, as Youngsville made off with a 14-1 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
