The Central Catholic Buttons will stay at home for another game and welcome the Village Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Saturday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Central Catholic gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They never let St. Pius X onto the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Given Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 13th, while St. Pius X is ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Catholic hit St. Pius X with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Alessandro Misael sierra (2),
Evan Pacheco, and
Andres Sanchez.
Meanwhile, Village scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged St. Thomas Catholic out 4-3. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Village with their most commanding win of the season.
Central Catholic pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those seven games. As for Village, their win bumped their record up to 1-2-1.
Central Catholic beat Village by a goal when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 3-2. Does Central Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Village turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
