Baseball Recap: Spanish Fork's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Spanish Fork came into Saturday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Syracuse Titans with a sharp 9-1 victory on Saturday. The Dons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Boston Duvall made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Duvall was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Tilden Scott tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

Back at the plate, Spanish Fork got a massive performance out of Rhythm Fagan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. Those two hits gave Fagan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Pratt Morley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Spanish Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only posted an OBP of .346.

Spanish Fork's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Syracuse, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish Fork will venture away from home to take on Riverton at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Syracuse, they will face off against West Field at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
